Holy Crap! NWMAC!

College life can be hectic to say the least. Whether we are running to classes or finishing a paper it seems we have no time at all to relax and decompress. I for example was rushing to get an assignment done for my Art in Community class. I was on a deadline and was speeding (in my super fast Volvo) to the Northwest Museum of Art and Culture, in hopes of getting in before they closed. I started to panic as my GPS began to lead me though several tight turns in some shady neighborhood, but thankfully the astounding NWMAC building popped up right as I was about to call it quits. I went inside and smiled at the receptionist as I bought my ticket (she was really quite cute. Brown hair, green eyes, a killer smile.......) As I descended into the catacombs of the modern art building where they hold their exhibits, I couldn’t help but wonder if the receptionist was single and if she was into guys that looked like monks. Distracted as I was, I failed to notice the fake fireplace sitting in the middle of the exhibit and almost proceeded to trip over it as I walked. That was when I noticed the giant Freaking teepee that was set up in the next room. The entire exhibit was dedicated to Native American art and culture, and I had stumbled right into it... literally. Along with the teepee there was native garb and art that completely covered that walls. The sheer amount of art they had crammed in was astounding. One particular piece that caught my attention was a Native American headdress that was completely covered in eagle feathers. It was preserved quite well and was quite a bit larger than I had expected. According to the description the Native Americans would use them in ceremonies and dances. I then proceeded to imagine what it would be like if I showed up to a dance wearing one of those. (Homecoming would have been that much more awesome!). The rest of the trip consisted of me going up to paintings and looking really thoughtful and pensive even though some of them just looked like blobs of color. As I exited I waved to the receptionist again, and strolled out to meet the stresses of college all over again.
