Imagine if you will a party, now imagine an art show, mix
the two together and you have a vague idea of what Terrain 5 was like. Hosted
in the Music Art Building in downtown Spokane, this event was a party to say
the least. There was a live band, a full bar and plenty of conversation.
Spokanites from all different age groups came to admire the artwork of the
local artists and to have a good time. I also attended this event and was
astonished by the diversity of art pieces it contained. One particular piece of
art really caught my attention. It was a metallic humanoid statue with large
ivory-like horns attached to its head. The entire statue was covered with sharp
metallic wire and had one eye closed. It was poised in a defiant relaxed pose
and had an almost sinister feel to it. I was drawn to this piece of work
because of it uniqueness and it technological feel. For me it represented the
sinister and powerful side of technology. I work with technology every day, so
this particular piece of art was especially compelling. This piece of art was
only one of the many excellent pieces of art on display, and I was glad I was
able to enjoy all of them.
